Burke Rehabilitation Named To Newsweek’s 2026 List of America’s Best Physical Rehabilitation Centers

The list recognizes the country’s leading inpatient rehabilitation facilities that set the standard for excellence in patient care and recovery.

White Plains, NY (August 27, 2026) – Burke Rehabilitation®, a leading provider of advanced physical and medical rehabilitation and member of the Montefiore Health System, today announced it has been named again to Newsweek’s 2026 list of America’s Best Physical Rehabilitation Centers, ranking among the top five of New York State’s rehabilitation centers and the only rehabilitation hospital in the Hudson Valley to make the list. This recognition comes weeks after Burke was also recognized as one of U.S. News & World Report’s 2026-27 Best Rehabilitation Hospitals in the country.

“We are honored to be recognized once again among Newsweek’s Best Physical Rehabilitation Centers in the nation,” said Burke Rehabilitation Executive Director Scott Edelman, MBA, CPA, CFE. “This accolade is a testament to the deep expertise, compassion, and commitment of our entire team to advance our mission and ensure our patients achieve the greatest possible functional recovery from illness, injury, or disability. At Burke, we look beyond a diagnosis to understand each patient’s goals, delivering individualized medical and rehabilitation care that supports improved health outcomes and an exceptional patient experience.”

This year’s rankings recognize 330 of the nation’s leading inpatient rehabilitation facilities, evaluated across clinical quality, professional reputation, quality designations, and patient experience. The Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF)-accredited Brain Injury, Spinal Cord Injury (SCI), and Stroke programs at Burke were each named as ‘Standout Programs,’ underscoring the organization’s exceptional expertise, innovative care, and proven ability to help patients with complex neurological conditions achieve meaningful recovery.

This latest recognition reflects the organization’s determination to redefine recovery and advance the future of rehabilitation medicine. Through pioneering innovation, research, and interdisciplinary expertise, Burke delivers personalized, integrated care across the rehabilitative continuum that maximizes functional recovery from a broad range of complex conditions including brain and spinal cord injury, orthopedic and neurological conditions, cancer, limb loss, and cardiac and pulmonary diagnoses, as well as serving the most stroke patients in New York.

Burke offers specialized expertise, comprehensive services, and state-of-the-art therapeutic equipment proven to support safe, meaningful progress. Together, these strengths deliver strong patient outcomes, including a 70% rate of discharges directly to the community.

The rankings are determined by Newsweek and data intelligence platform Statista, based on the evaluation of quality metrics reported by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid services (CMS), a national survey of rehabilitation experts conducted from April through June 2026, and patient experience reflected in Google Reviews. The evaluation also considers Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) quality designations and participation in the Model Systems Knowledge Translation Center (MSKTC) program.
