Burke Rehabilitation Announces Richard Celiberti as Board Chair

Burke Rehabilitation has announced the appointment of Richard Celiberti as the new Chairman of the Burke Rehabilitation Board of Trustees. Mr. Celiberti was approved as the Board Chair at Burke Rehabilitation’s Annual Meeting held on May 18, 2023. He follows John R. McCarthy who is retiring as Board Chair, a position he has held since 2018.

Mr. Celiberti has been a member of the Burke Board since 2014 and prior to becoming Chair, served as Treasurer. He is an accomplished healthcare executive with consulting and operational experience at Ernst & Young and the Montefiore Healthcare System. Mr. Celiberti was the Executive Director at Montefiore-Wakefield Hospital after serving as Senior Vice President-Network Development at Montefiore Medical Center. He was President and Chief Executive Officer of Our Lady of Mercy Medical Center which became part of Montefiore in 2006. Prior to that, he was the Partner and National Director of Ernst & Young’s healthcare consulting practice.

Mr. Celiberti earned a Master of Business Administration in Finance from Temple University and is a Certified Public Accountant. An Army veteran, he was the Chief Financial Officer for a 500-bed military hospital.

Together, we have accomplished amazing things, and I anticipate reaching additional milestones,” said Mr. Celiberti. “I wish to thank John McCarthy for his dedication and service to Burke. He leaves behind a legacy of which we all can be proud.”

Burke’s Executive Director Scott Edelman, MBA, CPA, CFE, said, “We are excited to work with Mr. Celiberti as he assumes this important role on the Burke Board. I look forward to our collaboration and the sharing of ideas as we continue to provide the highest quality of rehabilitation services to our patients.”

Mr. Celiberti and his wife Marion reside in Rye Brook, NY.
