Boys & Girls Club of New Rochelle Welcomes Knicks “30 Rock” Artwork Donated by Knicks and NBCUniversal After Being on Display in NYC to Promote Renewed NBA-NBC Partnership

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y., Feb. 2, 2026 – The Boys & Girls Club of New Rochelle now sports a one-of-a-kind eye-catching “30 Rock” art creation celebrating the Knicks and the NBA’s return to game broadcasts on NBC Sports. The Boys & Girls Club was specially selected by NBC 4 New York and Telemundo 47 to receive the artwork in light of its comprehensive education and advocacy for youths, in addition to residing within the home county (Westchester) of the Knicks’ training facility.

The Knicks 30 Rock’s new home is the Boys & Girls Club of New Rochelle’s Remington Clubhouse, where it will inspire legions of young basketball players. The 30 Rock was unveiled in a celebration Jan. 30, covered live by WNBC-TV and reporter Kay Angrum (watch a report here: https://www.nbcnewyork.com/video/local/knicks-donate-roundball-rock-ball-to-boys-and-girls-club-of-new-rochelle/6452769/). An exuberant crowd of about 75 Club youths filled the Remington gym to take part in celebratory events such as a basketball clinic led by Klinic Kids, a Boys & Girls Club partner, and the opportunity to watch television reports come alive.

“The Boys & Girls Club of New Rochelle is deeply appreciative to NBCUniversal, NBC 4 New York and Telemundo 47 for honoring us with this beautiful donation and for supporting the great futures we offer our youths,” said Boys & Girls Club of New Rochelle CEO Becky Mazzanobile. “Basketball and the NBA are so important to our Club members. Having an authentic NBA and NBC memento on hand, especially one that’s so striking and inspiring, is such a treat.” The NBA is officially back on NBC and debuted on Peacock (NBC’s streaming service) for the 2025-2026 season, ending an absence since 2002. The partnership features weekly games including Monday night exclusives on Peacock, Tuesday and Sunday night primetime games on NBC and Peacock. NBC and Peacock have revived nostalgic elements such as the “Roundball Rock” theme song created by John Tesh and special contributions from NBA legend Michael Jordan. “NBA Showtime” will precede every NBA game on NBC and Peacock aside from “Sunday Night Basketball,” which is preceded by “Basketball Night in America.”

“We’re all part of this community; we live here and we work here,” said NBC 4 New York and Telemundo 47’s John Durso, Vice President, Community and Communications, who coordinated the donation to the Boys & Girls Club and spoke during the unveiling. “We are all blessed with the opportunity to be here to give back. Thanks for allowing us to come into your home.” The Knicks 30 Rock was created by New York native Mark Paul Deren. It was commissioned to celebrate the NBA’s return to NBC Sports and was displayed outside NBC’s 30 Rockefeller Plaza headquarters in Manhattan. The NBA and NBC partnered with artists nationwide to create 30 custom Rocks representing each NBA team. Each 30 Rock was gifted back to each team’s local markets for a homecoming moment celebrating NBA’s return to NBC. The donation to the Boys & Girls Club was in part to celebrate NBC’s inaugural Sunday evening NBA broadcast of the Knicks and Los Angeles Lakers on Feb. 1, won by the Knicks at Madison Square Garden.

The Knicks’ 30Rock, which weighs 30 pounds, is 3 feet in diameter and sits on a vertical podium. It is made from foam with epoxy hard coat, wrapped with a vinyl graphic depicting the Knicks logo, New York City icons such as the Statue of Liberty and the Brooklyn Bridge, the faces of fans and the Knicks’ famous “Go New York, Go New York, Go!” chant. Deren, who has created murals of NBA superstars Shaquille O’Neal and Scottie Pippen, among others, said he had one day to conceive and strategize his art vision and design. That design, on an iPad, was later physically created by a production company. He was thrilled that the 30 Rock will have a permanent home inspiring youths.

“It’s an honor to be here with you guys,” Deren said during the unveiling. “I’m an artist living my dream, which I never thought I would do. The cool thing about art is that I get to create for a living. Just like basketball, you have to practice it. You guys can accomplish anything. Hopefully this inspires you to become an artist too.” During the unveiling, youths clad in orange Boys & Girls Club T-shirts got into the spirit by chanting, “Go New York Go New York Go!” Azzur’e Selby, an eighth grader and Club member, said the event was very fun and the Club has made an invaluable difference in her life. “I got the opportunity to learn new things in basketball. I made new friends, and I met new people that I didn’t even know about, so that was really important to me,” she said. About the event, she added, “It was just really fun and inspirational, and I’m glad that I got the chance to experience this… I don’t really play basketball that much but I have started to kind of like it because of this event, so thank you.” For 95 years, Boys & Girls Club of New Rochelle has been an integral part of the community, offering quality, achievement-driven programming encompassing academics, mental wellness, fitness, leadership and civics. Today, it is one of Westchester County’s largest nonprofits and a leader in youth development, serving over 10,500 youths annually at 12 school sites and two clubhouses.
