April 30—Rye Derby & Healthy Kids Day
On Sunday, April 30th, the Rye YMCA will celebrate the 35th anniversary of the Rye Derby, the organization’s most popular annual event.
Known for attracting world-class athletes, local runners and families, the Derby is a rite of spring in Rye. The day will kick off with a 5-Mile Championship Road Race and a 5K Road Race, followed by a 1-Mile Fun Run/Walk.
Participants can also enjoy family-friendly activities, snacks and sandwiches and live music during Healthy Kids Day in the Y’s parking lot. An annual celebration of families, health and fun, Healthy Kids Day will run from 9 am-12:30 pm. It is free and open to the community.
Proceeds from the Rye Derby supports the Y Cares Financial Assistance Program, which provides scholarships and subsidies for summer camp, child care, program fees and memberships.
