ANDRUS Appoints Five New Members to the Board of Directors

YONKERS, N.Y. (January 30, 2019) – ANDRUS, a nonprofit organization that serves more than 4,500 individuals each year in New York State, has announced the appointment of five new members to the Board of Directors. Joining the Board of Directors are Mr. David H. Sullivan, Mr. James Black, Ms. Katy M. Tucci, State Senator Rene Garcia, and Mr. Michael Spensley, D.V.M. “All five of our newest Board members embody the spirit of ANDRUS and bring talent, expertise and energy to the organization. We are very fortunate to have them by our side as we continue to strengthen our community”, said Bryan Murphy, President and CEO. David Sullivan, a resident of Croton-on-Hudson, N.Y., has spent over 40 years in public accounting where he is currently a consultant. Among his many roles, Sullivan served as CFO for Durst Fetner Residential LLC and was a Tax Partner at Citrin Cooperman. Sullivan is the Treasurer of Family Focus Respite Service in Yorktown and the Former Committee Chair for BSA Troop 28 in Croton on Hudson. James Black, a resident of Putnam Valley, N.Y., is the President and CEO of Blackstone Heating & Air Conditioning in New Rochelle. Black has more than 30 years of experience in the HVAC industry and is actively involved in nonprofit organizations and their fundraising efforts. Katy Tucci, a resident of Rye, N.Y., is a Senior Wealth Manager for BNY Mellon Wealth Management with prior roles within the company including Associate Wealth Manager and Private Banking Senior Account Manager. Tucci is professionally connected to many groups such as Fairfield County’s Community Foundation and volunteers her time by serving on the Manhattanville College President Advisory Council, the Rye Colony Cooperative Apartments, Inc. Board of Directors serving as its Treasurer, and Junior Achievement of Southwest Connecticut. Rene Garcia, a resident of Hialeah, FL., is the Executive Vice President of Business Development at New Century Partnership, a firm he co-founded in Miami, Florida. With more than fifteen years of experience in government and healthcare, he served in the Florida House from 2000-2008 and the Florida Senate from 2010-2018. He has been a relentless advocate for children, the elderly, the disabled and our veterans, working tirelessly to ensure all Floridians have access to quality healthcare. Michael Spensley, a resident of Charles Town, WV, is the Managing Director of Pyxis Global Consulting, LLC where he consults and contracts services to animal health companies. Spensley spent his early and most recent years as an Associate at Valley Equine Associates. He has served as Vice Chair of the Surdna Foundation, Secretary- Treasurer and formerly chaired the Foundation’s Sustainable Environments Program Committee. Spensley has extensive knowledge and experience with ANDRUS through his family connection as well as history of service with the Surdna Foundation. About ANDRUS ANDRUS nurtures social and emotional well-being in children, families, and communities by delivering a broad range of vital services and by providing research, training, and innovative program models that promote the standard of excellence for professional performance in and beyond our service community. With programs on campus, in schools and within community-based settings throughout Westchester County, the nonprofit reaches almost 4,500 children and families each year from the New York Metropolitan area. ANDRUS also operates the ANDRUS Center for Learning and Innovation (ACLI) and the ANDRUS Sanctuary Institute, which has provided training and consultation to over 350 organizations worldwide in the use of a trauma-sensitive model for treatment and organizational change.
