27th Annual Battle of the Badges Hockey Game to Benefit Ronald McDonald House of the Greater Hudson Valley

The 27th annual charity cup hockey game, “Battle of the Badges,” will take place on Saturday, March 2nd at Ebersole Ice Rink in White Plains with the White Plains Firefighters facing off against the White Plains PBA at 6 p.m. The event will include a Silent Auction with autographed sports memorabilia as well as a Spin to Win Wheel hosted by B&G Entertainment -Autographs from the Jefferson Valley Mall. All proceeds for the event benefit Ronald McDonald House of the Greater Hudson Valley (RMHGHV).
The House serves as a home-away-from-home for families of children in need of critical care. Located in Valhalla, just steps away from Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital at Westchester Medical Center, the 12-bedroom House keeps families together and close to the care and resources they need during their child’s medical treatment.

The Craane family of Putnam Valley, who stayed with RMHGHV when their son Liam was being treated at Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital, will officially kick off the event and drop the puck to start the “Battle of the Badges.” Liam’s dad Bill said his son is excited to be a special part of this event and just be a kid being treated like a celebrity for the day. Liam will be accompanied by his mom, Jeanmarie, and his sister, Leah, on the ice. The 12 year old also has a sister, Hayley, who will miss the event but will be there in spirit. The Craane family stayed at the House for about a week last spring and have utilized the day program for months. Through the day program they have had access to hot meals, laundry and a warm place to feel welcomed when they needed a break from the hospital routine. “The Ronald McDonald House gave our family a little bit of sanity in a chaotic time in our lives,” said Will. “When Liam’s doctors give us the green light we plan to come back and cook a meal for other families in their time of need. We are forever grateful for what the House does for our family.”

Premier Collection in White Plains will be sponsoring a Shoot to Win contest on the ice for a chance to win a Volvo S60 during the 2nd intermission and the Chuck a Puck event will be held in the 1st intermission for a chance to win a signed jersey. Concession stands will also be available, as well as RMHGHV and Battle of the Badges merchandise for sale. Tickets for the event can be purchased at the door.
