It’s Official! Trader Joe’s Is Coming to Yorktown

After months of rumors and speculation, it was reported this week that Trader Joe’s is coming to Yorktown Heights. The popular specialty grocer will be located at the Lowe’s Shopping Center on Crompond Road, just off the Taconic State Parkway. The store will be in a 12,500-square-foot building in the front of the shopping center.

“I am proud to report that once again, Yorktown is attracting a national brand that will undoubtedly provide a major boost to our economy. I have repeatedly heard from residents that they wanted a specialty grocer, so when my administration began, I made economic development the top priority in order to attract new businesses,” said Yorktown Supervisor Matt Slater.

He added, “We’ve seen the fruits of this effort in the redevelopment proposal for the Yorktown Green shopping center and I expect more positive announcements later this year. We are grateful to the executives at Breslin Realty, the property owner/developer, for recognizing the value of the site’s location in the heart of the Route 202 corridor and its potential as a shopping destination. When the Town Board launched the Destination Y marketing campaign last year, it was precisely to encourage the opening of destinations like Trader Joe’s.”

The Lowe’s Shopping Center added Starbucks and AAA Travel Store earlier this year to the site next to Trader Joe’s. The center will soon be home to Slice Pizza. The nearest Trader Joe’s locations to the area are in Hartsdale, Westchester County, and Danbury, Connecticut.
