TMB Awards $1,500 in Student ‘Make and Accelerate’ Scholarships

Three 2018 Hudson Valley high school graduates are taking their next step toward a career in advanced manufacturing with an extra $500 for associated costs, thanks to Tompkins Mahopac Bank’s (TMB) new Make and Accelerate scholarship program. In all, $1,500 has been awarded through the program.

Winners of the scholarship program, Alexandria Conlin of Mahopac, Sydney Levine of Pleasantville and Paul Pedrozo of Mamaroneck, each were recognized with a $500 scholarship in June, as they all maintained a minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.0 or higher, are enrolled in an advanced manufacturing degree or technical program at a two- or four-year college or technical school for Fall 2018 and met other criteria.

Conlin, a 2018 graduate of Mahopac High School, will enter Marist College in the fall to study Product Design and Development, including advanced 3-D and large format 2-D printing, along with prototype development with an emphasis on fashion and accessories.

A June graduate of Pleasantville High School, Levine will head to the University of Pennsylvania in the fall, where she’ll advance her affinity for hands-on manufacturing as she works toward a degree in chemical engineering with a concentration on biomedical engineering or pharmaceuticals. Her aim is to target a career in developing heath care products or medical equipment.

Mamaroneck High School 2018 graduate, Pedrozo, will pursue his dream of a career in advanced manufacturing and goal of becoming a software engineer in a leading technical company through his studies at Buffalo State, the State University of New York, in the fall.

“It is our honor to help support Alexandria, Sydney and Paul in their pursuit of careers in technology and advanced manufacturing,” said Amy Greiner, vice president, business development officer for TMB and a member of the Council of Industry’s Workforce Advisory Committee. “Our best congratulations go to each of them as they move into exciting and meaningful industries that offer opportunities for personal satisfaction and the betterment of others, while contributing to local communities’ economic health.”
