Heineken Safe Ride 2020 Making White Plains Safe for the Holidays

For the 16th year in a row, HEINEKEN USA is partnering with The City of White Plains and the White Plains Business Improvement District for its ‘New Year. Safe Ride.’ program. For more than a decade and a half, the program has provided free and safe rides home to more than 5,000 Westchester County residents of legal drinking age who celebrate New Year’s Eve in downtown White Plains, NY. On New Year’s Eve, and year-round, HEINEKEN USA is committed to encouraging safe alcohol consumption.

“As a family owned company, we care for and are committed to the safety of our people and the communities we call home,” said Josephine Bertrams, SVP and Chief Corporate Affairs Officer at HEINEKEN USA. “This important program ensures that everyone is able to enjoy the New Year’s festivities and arrive home safe.”

Marsha Gordon, President and CEO of the Business Council of Westchester who attended the Safe Ride 2020 kick off on December 11, said that Heineken has a long record of corporate responsibility.

“This initiative is just one of many that Heineken undertakes each year to show its support for the local community. We are so fortunate to have them here in Westchester,’’ she said. “I would urge anyone who needs it to take advantage of this wonderful service so we all can have a healthy, happy and safe New Year.’’

The annual White Plains New Year’s Eve Spectacular is hosted by The White Plains Business Improvement District and the City of White Plains. The celebration will commence at 10 PM on December 31st at Main Street and Court Street. Revelers will have the opportunity to ring in 2020 with a DJ and live music, ball drop, confetti and a dazzling firework display at midnight.

HEINEKEN USA’s safe rides transportation stand will be on the corner of East Post Road and Mamaroneck Avenue between 11 PM on December 31st, 2019 and 3 AM on January 1st, 2020. A dedicated fleet of cars, including at least one that is handicap accessible, will provide complimentary rides home for those 21 and older traveling from the heart of downtown White Plains to anywhere across Westchester County.

“Our goal with The New Year’s Eve Spectacular in downtown White Plains was to offer people throughout the region a convenient place to have fun and enjoy the New Year,” said White Plains Mayor Tom Roach. “I am proud to say that many families have made our New Year’s Eve Spectacular their annual tradition. I would like to once again thank HEINEKEN USA for partnering with us through their highly successful New Year. Safe Ride. program. This program helps keep our streets safe and is an important part of this annual celebration.”
