BCW Member The Honey Baked Ham Company Helps Furloughed TSA Workers

A veteran and former US Army Major, Rosa Ramirez said that she knows what it is like to work for the federal government during difficult times and can sympathize with furloughed workers affected by the government shutdown.

Ramirez said she wanted to do something for the furloughed TSA workers at Westchester County Airport so she reached out to The Business Council of Westchester’s Linda Tyler and John Ravitz who connected her with the manager at Westchester County Airport.

“Being a veteran, I understand what it is like, and I wanted to do something to help,’’ she said. Ramirez served in the US Army from 1987 through 2017 when she retired from the military and started her own business, The Honey Baked Ham Company.

On Tuesday, Ramirez visited the Westchester County Airport where she delivered 30 sandwiches from the Honey Baked Ham Company to the TSA supervisor for workers at the airport. Ramirez said the move made sense since as part of her community outreach program she often gives samples to area businesses and has worked to provide sandwiches to neighboring churches.

“We were happy to help connect Rosa and do our part in making this wonderful act of kindness become a reality,’’ said Ravitz, Executive Vice President and COO of The BCW. “We thank Rosa for giving back to the community.’’
