Advance Life Planning “Be Prepared Kit” Now Available!

The importance of planning continues to be in the forefront of our lives. Although seniors continue to be guarded and mindful with safety measures in group settings, education and wellness, as well as those programs involving the arts, we need to continue to find opportunities to ask each other…how prepared are we?

In 2019, Wartburg and the Westchester End-of-Life Coalition (WELC), an organization committed to improving the end-of-life experience for patients and families, announced the official transfer of WELC’s programs, activities, and materials to Wartburg. In 2020, Wartburg completed the transition to “Advance Life Planning,” and refreshed the trademarked Be Prepared Kits. Today, we are pleased to share the news that Be Prepared Kits are now available through Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing.

Wartburg’s President, Dr. David J. Gentner, said, “The technology is not complicated, and the user experience is intuitive. The trademarked Be Prepared Kit is still the most sophisticated yet practical tool for personal advanced life planning I’ve seen. Many of us have dealt with end-of-life issues during this second year of the pandemic. The Be Prepared Kit is a thoughtful way to organize yourself.”

For almost 20 years, WELC was a leader in education about end-of-life preparedness as well as a valued resource for individuals and families in Westchester living with serious illness or close to the end of life and in need of guidance, information, and direction. The movement to virtual programming, even for seniors, is the opportunity to reach a broader audience without borders, with Advance Life Planning programs.

With the acquisition of WELC, Wartburg has absorbed the Live With Care website (livewithcare.org) now located on the Wartburg website at www.advancelifeplanning.org. This comprehensive website helps individuals and their families determine their end of life wishes in advance of a serious illness. As everyone’s needs differ, the website also provides valuable resources to help navigate the health care system and find the resources needed for an individual’s specific situation.
