BCW President and CEO Marsha Gordon is among the top leaders in Westchester County participating in the county’s COVID-19 Public Service campaign. The County has put together several public service announcements with local business leaders, clergy and medical professionals including County Health Commissioner Dr. Sherlita Amler and Senior Pastor Reverend Troy DeCohen of Mount Vernon Heights Congressional Church.
Westchester County Executive George Latimer also participated, allowing cameras to follow him as he received the vaccine. So far, Westchester County has administered more than 400,000 vaccinations with hundreds more every day.
The campaign is focused on addressing COVID vaccine myths and hesitancy across the County by talking about facts. The announcements have also been done in Spanish. The County continues reaching out to local leaders and notable figures in our community to guide people toward receiving the immunizations and stop the spread of COVID-19.
“I am proud to participate in this important public service campaign. It is crucial that the public understand the importance of getting vaccinated as well as dispel the misleading information surrounding the COVID-19 vaccine. The BCW applauds County Executive George Latimer for his outstanding leadership during the pandemic,” said Gordon.
County Executive George Latimer said: “We want to keep Westchester healthy and stop the spread of CoVid-19 in our communities. We want people who live here to feel safe about receiving the vaccine and if they identify with someone we showcase in our public service campaign, it could help encourage more people to take the shot.”
