VISIONS offers free training for blind people of all ages
We are strong. We will persevere during COVID-19 restrictions.
VISIONS/Services for the Blind and Visually Impaired is a 94 year old social service and vision rehabilitation nonprofit organization. We serve more than 7,000 individuals annually, with services provided virtually, in the home and community, at our senior center in Manhattan, and at our residential facility in Rockland County.
VISIONS serves every neighborhood of New York City with expanded services for blind individuals of all ages and their families living in Westchester, Long Island, the Hudson Valley and northern New Jersey.
All VISIONS services are free!
During the current crisis, VISIONS continues to function with services being offered remotely.
VISIONS youth services are continuing virtually, including pre-vocational training for youth with visual impairments referred by the New York State Commission for the Blind (NYSCB).
VISIONS Department of Workforce Development continues to work virtually with all job seekers and work readiness participants.
VISIONS technology trainers are offering remote technology assistance for college students and public school students with visual impairments referred by NYSCB.
VISIONS social workers are providing remote counseling and resource information for participants referred by NYSCB. Rehabilitation staff continues to complete assessments and staff provides benefits assistance and counseling by phone.
VISIONS staff is offering a telephone support group for parents of blind children living in Westchester and the Hudson Valley.
