Phelps Hospital Opens $12 Million Interventional Radiology Suite
Phelps Hospital in Sleepy Hollow has opened a $12 million upgraded Interventional Radiology suite, adding the latest 3D mammography, CAT scan and MRI technologies to the hospital’s main floor.
Interventional Radiology is often used as a minimally invasive alternative to open surgery for a growing list of medical conditions. By harnessing the power of advanced imaging (ultrasound, X-rays, CAT scans, MRI scans and other innovative methods), interventional radiologists can see inside the body and treat complex conditions—even cardiovascular disease and cancer— less invasively and with unprecedented precision.
The suite is the latest major investment the hospital was able to make as part of the Northwell Health System. “Phelps’ investment in this cutting-edge technology is a testament to our commitment to our patients and the quality of care they receive,” hospital president Dan Blum said in a release. “Our highly skilled physicians excel in using these advanced techniques to save patients’ lives, decrease hospital stays and provide phenomenal care.”
Hospitals and health care have been major engines of economic growth in Westchester, and the Phelps announcement continues to add to the quality of care for residents in the county and beyond, said Marsha Gordon, President and CEO of the Business Council of Westchester.
“The level of care that people are able to receive right here in Westchester County continues to improve and expand, rivaling that of Manhattan and helping to treat residents close to home,” Gordon said. “This is incredible news for patients and the county at large. We will continue to support our hospitals as they forge ahead and make great progress in bringing the latest medical advances to Westchester.”
