Macquarie Selected to Operate Airport

Macquarie Infrastructure Corporation of Manhattan was the unanimous choice of a bi-partisan task force made up of members of County Executive Rob Astorino’s administration and the Board of Legislators to evaluate three proposals received in April to manage, operate, maintain and improve the Westchester County Airport in accordance with an FAA program that would allow the county for the first time to use revenues generated at the airport to help pay for police, parks, roads, day care and other services.
The county would get over $1 billion — $595 million in payments and another $550 million in capital funds to improve the airport’s infrastructure — in the deal. The county legislature would need to approve the agreement with at least 12 votes from its 17 members.
The Business Council of Westchester has been an advocate for the public private partnership, saying it is a model that should be replicated statewide to save tax dollars and stimulate economic development.
