Elected officials, healthcare professionals and business leaders came together on September 25 for ribbon cutting to celebrate the upcoming opening of BCW Member Burke Rehabilitation’s newest outpatient facility.

Located at the Wartburg campus in Mount Vernon, the state-of-the-art facility represents a major step in the organization’s multi-year strategy to extend its nationally acclaimed and comprehensive physical rehabilitation services to more patients across the tri-state area.

“This expansion marks a key milestone for the growth of Burke Rehabilitation’s outpatient footprint, as the Mount Vernon location is our 15th outpatient therapy site,” said Burke Rehabilitation Executive Director, Scott Edelman, CPA, MBA, CFE, FHFMA. “It is an honor to expand access to our award-winning, patient-centered care and clinical excellence for more residents in and around Mount Vernon. We look forward to continued investment in outpatient therapy as part of our steadfast commitment to expanding and enhancing our services, meeting patients where they are, and fully supporting their recovery goals.”

The cutting-edge facility will offer a full range of services for individuals recovering from orthopedic injuries and neurological conditions, in addition to a variety of other diagnoses. Once fully staffed, the Mount Vernon outpatient therapy site will support approximately 15,000 patient visits annually and is expected to employ up to 10 therapists.

“Across our outpatient sites, Burke is known for the highly personalized level of one-on-one care we provide to every patient we serve,” said Burke Rehabilitation Vice President Outpatient Services Steven Tisser, PT, MBA. “We are proud to bring this gold standard of care to Mount Vernon, further extending our reach and access to high-quality rehabilitative care to more patients across the region.”

The 3,500-square-foot facility features an approximately 1,800 square-foot therapy gym bathed in natural light, two private exam rooms, two semi-private treatment bays, and additional treatment tables. Patients will engage in one-on-one sessions with their therapists, focusing on tailored exercises and therapy techniques designed to meet their individualized recovery goals.

“We are grateful for the opportunity to enable direct access to high-quality outpatient therapy services to both residents of this campus and to those in our greater Mount Vernon community, provided by the skilled team at Burke Rehabilitation,” said Dr. David Gentner, President and CEO of Wartburg.

Speakers at the ribbon-cutting event included Philip O. Ozuah, MD, PhD, President and CEO of Montefiore Einstein; Ken Jenkins, Westchester County Executive; Shawyn Patterson-Howard, Mount Vernon Mayor; and Danielle Browne, Mount Vernon City Council President. BCW President & CEO Marsh Gordon was among those attending the milestone event.

The location will be fully open to the entire community. The site will start seeing patients in mid-October and will be open Monday through Friday from 8:30AM – 5:00PM at 1 Wartburg Place, Outpatient Building, 1st Floor, Mount Vernon, NY, 10552.
