Rising Stars Help to Promote Digital Literacy
The Rising Stars Leadership Council and the Rising Stars Alumni partnered with Neighbors Link to increase awareness about their mission.
Each year, the BCW’s Rising Stars Alumni Not-For-Profit Partnership focuses their support on not-for-profits that have Rising Stars Winners. For the 2023-2024 Partnership, in addition to Neighbors Link, other not-for-profit partners include Feeding Westchester; the YMCA of Central and Northern Westchester; the Westchester Children’s Museum; and the Youth Shelter Program of Westchester.
Earlier this month, the partnership presented a $2,000 check to Neighbors Link to purchase ten Chromebooks for their Tech Ed Program that promotes digital literacy. Neighbors Link serves new immigrant families with education and empowerment programs.
Heidi Winslow, Partner at DelBello Donnellan Weingarten Wise & Wiederkehr LLP, and Chair of the Rising Stars stated: “The Business Council of Westchester’s Rising Stars award recipients are the future leaders of Westchester. We are proud to give back each year to the not-for-profit organizations whose leaders are recognized at our annual event. This remarkable donation to Neighbors Link is a direct result of the efforts of our Leadership Council, and the contributions from our alumni, and clearly illustrates how we can join together to support truly outstanding Westchester County not-for-profit organizations.”
Elizabeth Mastropolo, an attorney at Neighbors Link Community Law Practice, was a BCW 2023 Rising Star and worked alongside fellow Rising Stars Alumni to bring focus to Neighbors Link.
Digital equity programming at Neighbors Link aims to provide clients with digital literacy education, basic technology skills, and access to devices to improve their digital citizenship. With the knowledge, skills, and resources provided through these programs, clients gain access to increased social and economic opportunities.
By providing Chromebooks for clients to keep, they can take home the devices they used to learn digital skills and continue using them as a tool and resource in supporting themselves and their families. Neighbors Link has three locations in Westchester County, and they offer services throughout the Mid-Hudson Valley.
