WIN Participant Lessonbee Joins Amazon Accelerator

Lessonbee Founder and CEO Reva McPollom

Amazon Web Services (AWS) has accepted Lessonbee—a Westchester Innovation Network (WIN) participant—into its Education Accelerator.

The Stamford-based Lessonbee will participate in a 10-week immersive experience for global EdTech startups that want to accelerate their go-to-market activities in the United States for the PK-12, higher education, and workforce education markets. The company will also receive up to $100,000 in AWS computing credits.

Lessonbee is a member of the original 2022 cohort of innovators that joined WIN when the Business Council of Westchester launched the initiative to propel innovation as the underpinning for the future economic growth of Westchester County. Lessonbee is an EdTech startup that markets a digital health education program for third- to twelfth-grade students.

“We are honored to participate in this accelerator and look forward to the incredible mentorship and resources provided through AWS to enhance Lessonbee’s technology and expand our impact on youth wellbeing,” said Lessonbee founder and CEO Reva McPollom, a Mount Vernon resident.

The accelerator will provide individualized business and technical mentorship regarding funding, scaling, go-to-market support, and AWS technical fundamentals. At the end of the 10 weeks, the cohort will participate in a virtual pitch event in collaboration with OMNIA Partners, an experienced cooperative purchasing organization dedicated to public-sector procurement.

“The Business Council of Westchester founded the Westchester Innovation Network to give innovators a platform to access new markets and find new collaborations. Lessonbee’s entry into a business accelerator run by Amazon is one of the types of outcomes we envisioned as we give innovators higher profiles,” said BCW president and CEO Marsha Gordon.

Participation in the Amazon accelerator is Lessonbee’s latest accomplishment.

Last year, Lessonbee participated in Verizon’s Forward for Good Accelerator in Orlando, Florida. The accelerator supports startups working to close the gaps in health access and outcomes by searching for solutions leveraging next-generation technology to break down barriers to quality care.

In 2022, Lessonbee won a $100,000 award from the Google for Startups Initiative’s Black Founders Fund, which provides cash awards to Black led startups that participated in Google’s programs or were nominated by Google’s partner community or a previous recipient.
