Con Ed Seeks Proposals for $1 Million in Clean Energy Career Training
Con Edison is providing a grant of $1 million to help educational institutions and community partners recruit and train the next generation of clean energy talent.
Colleges, nonprofit organizations, trade schools and other nontraditional clean-energy training programs are invited to apply for funding. Applicants will be required to demonstrate a history of successful recruitment and career preparation of students in disadvantaged communities.
“Con Edison’s vision is for every New Yorker to be able to share in the benefits of the clean energy transition,” said Jen Hensley, senior vice president, Con Edison Corporate Affairs. “We are proud to support workforce development programs that equip students with the skills, competencies and experiential learning that will lead to sustainable, well-paying jobs in clean energy and technology fields.”
Recruited students may range from high school, college, university and trade schools and certified instruction would include specific skills training and experiences, job placement, certification, and career pathing (employment services or internship) support. The grant is part of Con Edison’s Clean Energy Commitment to power New York with 100% clean energy by 2040.
Application materials must be submitted on or before October 30, 2023, at 5:00 p.m. ET. Nonprofits will be notified of the selection decision in November 2023. Grants will have an anticipated implementation period starting in January 2024. To learn more, contact powerofgiving@coned.com
