Burke Names Scott Edelman as Interim Executive Director
Burke Rehabilitation Hospital announced the appointment of Scott Edelman as its interim Executive Director. Mr. Edelman succeeds Jeffrey Menkes, who retired at the end of June after leading Burke for more than five years. Mr. Edelman, who previously served as Burke’s Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, brings 30 years of experience in healthcare to his new position.
According to Mr. Edelman, “I feel honored and humbled to lead Burke into the future and be part of the Montefiore Health System.” He intends to continue to serve the community’s physical rehabilitation needs with a patient-first approach, stressing quality and safety, while extending Burke’s highly regarded care to more patients and additional communities in Westchester County, the Hudson Valley, and the Bronx.
Mr. Edelman received his undergraduate and graduate degrees in accounting and finance from Iona College. He is a New York State Certified Public Accountant and a Certified Fraud Examiner. A member of the American College of Healthcare Executives, he is also a Fellow in the Healthcare Financial Management Association. Mr. Edelman serves as an adjunct professor in the MBA program of the SUNY educational system.
Upon his retirement, Mr. Menkes stated, “I cannot think of anyone more qualified to take the helm at Burke. Scott understands Burke’s mission and will rapidly become well known as one of the key healthcare leaders in Westchester County.”
