Yankwitt LLP’s Michael Reed Appointed to NYSBA House of Delegates

Yankwitt LLP attorney Michael Reed has been appointed by the Westchester County Bar Association (WCBA) to serve on the New York State Bar Association’s (NYSBA) House of Delegates. Delegates are appointed for a one-year term and may serve a maximum of four consecutive terms.
The House of Delegates, together with the bar leadership, serves as the voice of the legal profession and works to support the rule of law, improve the administration of justice, and advocate for the public good.

According to the NYSBA website, “the control and administration of the NYSBA is vested in the House of Delegates, the decision and policy-making body of the Association. The House meets four times a year. Action taken by the House of Delegates on specific issues becomes official NYSBA policy.”
Reed focuses his practice on complex federal litigation, with an emphasis on employment litigation. He frequently writes on wage and hour laws for industry and business publications, such as the New York Law Journal, Westchester Lawyer magazine, and the Westchester County Business Journal. He also regularly speaks on the topic at industry events hosted by the New York State Bar Association, the Bronx County Bar, the Rockland County Bar Association, and others.

Reed’s commitment to volunteerism encompasses representing clients in pro bono matters, most recently serving as pro bono counsel for Westchester Residential Opportunities, Inc. (WRO), a White Plains-based fair housing organization, in a case involving allegations of housing discrimination. One of his proudest moments involves representing, pro bono, a class of children in Tennessee in a significant federal trial and the subsequent appeal in the Sixth Circuit. The case, which was filed by the Tennessee Justice Center in Nashville, alleged that Tennessee children who were covered under Medicaid, were not provided with the screening, diagnosis, and treatment they were entitled to under federal law.

Founded in 2009, Yankwitt LLP is an elite trial and litigation law firm based in White Plains, New York.
