Rising Stars Alumni Give Back to Carver Center
It is better to give than receive. That’s the mantra of Rising Stars Alumni who spent the day volunteering at the Carver Center in Port Chester last Friday. The Rising Stars helped prepare meals, worked in the food pantry and garden and organized children’s activities in the pre-school.
The Rising Stars had selected the community center in Port Chester as the recipient of its fundraising campaign last year. The Carver Center is the largest and longest running community center in Port Chester. Founded in 1943, its mission is to provide individuals and families with the resources and support needed to lead productive, healthy, and independent lives.
The BCW’s Rising Stars program is designed to recognize individuals under the age of 40 who exemplify leadership, foresight and a vision for the future of Westchester County. The Class of 2017 will be inducted at an awards ceremony from 5-9 p.m. on June 15th at the BCW atrium at 800 Westchester Avenue in Rye Brook.
