MorDance Awarded $2 Million NYSCA Capital Projects Fund Grant for New Performing Arts Center in Dobbs Ferry
MorDance has been awarded a $2 million Capital Projects Fund grant from the New York State Council on the Arts (NYSCA) to support the development of the MorDance Performing Arts Center in Dobbs Ferry, marking a major milestone in the organization’s continued growth and commitment to arts education, performance, and community engagement throughout Westchester County.
The funding, announced as part of New York State’s ongoing investment in arts and cultural infrastructure, will help bring to life a permanent home for MorDance’s expanding programs and services. The future MorDance Performing Arts Center will feature professional dance studios, a flexible black box theater, educational and rehearsal spaces, and community gathering areas designed to serve artists, students, families, and audiences for generations to come.
Founded with a mission to make high-quality arts programming accessible to all, MorDance has grown significantly over the past decade, reaching thousands of individuals each year through performances, workshops, student matinees, educational initiatives, and community-based programs. The new facility will allow the organization to deepen its impact while creating a dedicated cultural destination within the Rivertowns community.
“This transformational investment represents an exciting new chapter for MorDance and the communities we serve,” the organization shared in its announcement. “The MorDance Performing Arts Center will provide a permanent home where creativity, education, and community can thrive together.”
MorDance expressed gratitude to the New York State Council on the Arts, Governor Kathy Hochul, the New York State Legislature, including Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins, as well as the many artists, supporters, donors, elected officials, and community members whose support has helped advance the vision for the project.
The grant is part of New York State’s broader commitment to strengthening arts and cultural institutions through strategic capital investments that expand access, preserve cultural assets, and support economic development in communities across the state.
Once completed, the MorDance Performing Arts Center is expected to serve as a vibrant hub for artistic expression, arts education, and community engagement, further enhancing Westchester County’s growing reputation as a center for arts and culture.
This project is made possible with support from the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature.
