Laura Rizzo Joins the BCW’s Board of Directors

Laura Rizzo, Con Edison’s Director of Westchester Regional & Community Affairs, has joined the BCW’s Board of Directors.

Rizzo, a New Rochelle resident, has an extensive understanding of Westchester County’s energy infrastructure. She is the relationship manager and contact for the county’s municipalities, collaborating with elected officials to address, resolve, and escalate operational issues related to gas, electricity, construction, and restoration activities.

“At a time when energy delivery systems are under increasing stress because of population growth and extreme weather conditions, Laura possesses a wealth of expertise that will help inform the BCW’s ongoing and future initiatives,” said BCW President and CEO Marsha Gordon. “Laura’s perspective will especially benefit the BCW’s Clean Energy Action Coalition as our members advocate for policies that facilitate the accelerated adoption of clean energy technologies. We are excited to have Laura join our Board of Directors as we continue to our longstanding working relationship with Con Edison.”

Before joining the Westchester Regional & Community Affairs division, Rizzo was an associate scientist and then scientist with Con Edison’s Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) group. With EH&S, she served as a subject matter expert for natural resources, providing regulatory guidance on land use, erosion and sediment control, stormwater management, wetlands, and wildlife.

Rizzo joined Con Edison after serving as an ecologist/environmental scientist with a West Coast consulting firm for seven years, working in both California and New Jersey.

She has a Master of Science in Biology with a concentration in Ecology and Evolution from Montclair State University. She has a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Science, and Minor in Visual Arts (Photography) from Purchase College State University of New York.

Welcome Laura!
