Cutting Red Tape: Governor Hochul Unveils First Wave Of Regulatory Reforms In Her ‘Express NY’ Initiative
This past year, The Business Council of Westchester (BCW) was proud to work alongside the Business Council of New York State, the New York State Economic Development Council, and other statewide organizations to commission a report titled Blueprint for New York. As part of this important coalition, the BCW hosted the first business roundtable for the project, providing business leaders from across the region with an opportunity to share their concerns and offer recommendations on how New York State can eliminate burdensome regulations, streamline processes, and create a more competitive business environment.
The feedback gathered through these discussions helped contribute to a broader statewide conversation about reducing unnecessary bureaucracy, improving government efficiency, and fostering economic growth. Today, many of those priorities are reflected in Governor Kathy Hochul’s newly announced EXPRESS NY initiative, which aims to modernize government operations, eliminate outdated regulations, reduce costs, and save valuable time for New Yorkers and businesses alike. As part of the BCW’s advocacy program we asked our members to send their suggestions regarding costly mandates and regulations that they encounter to the governor’s Express New York Portal. Over the next few months, the BCW looks forward to continuing to assist the governor in her ongoing efforts to eliminate more mandates and regulations that prevent businesses from continuing to grow.
