July 16, 2022—Ronald McDonald House Host GiveByGaming Tournament

Ronald McDonald House of the Greater Hudson Valley (RMHGHV) announced a partnership with Contender eSports in Wappingers Falls to host a Super Smash Bros Ultimate Tournament at the Contender location with proceeds benefiting RMHGHV. The tournament will be held on Saturday, July 16th, with registration opening at 11 a.m. and the tournament starting at 12:30 p.m. Top three players from both a Novice and Advanced bracket will receive prizes valued at more than $1,000 and all pre-registered participants will receive an RMHGHV swag bag and Give by Gaming t-shirt.

This is the second GiveByGaming Video Game Tournament hosted by RMHGHV with prize packages donated by leading gaming accessory maker, Turtle Beach Corporation. Tournament participants are encouraged to spread awareness and understanding of the RMHGHV mission. The House, just steps away from the Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital in Valhalla, provides a home-away-from-home for families of sick children. “We are excited to partner with Contender eSports to bring this unique opportunity for fundraising and engagement to this demographic and do it in a community where many of the families we serve reside,” said Christina Riley, Executive Director RMHGHV. “We plan to host similar Give by Gaming tournaments, both online & in person throughout the year and look forward to building this partnership with Contender.”

Contender eSports, located in Wappingers Falls on Route 9, is a competitive gaming center and the home of local esports and everything gaming from casual play to developmental leagues. The store offers PC and console gaming, food, music, summer camps and special events. “With gaming growing both as a hobby and as a sport, we believe everyone can be a gamer and can join us as we support the families of our local Ronald McDonald House,” said Deanna Fino, Contender Esports Owner/Operator.

The Hudson Valley Renegades will be on hand at the event with fun games and giveaways. By participating in a GiveByGaming tournament. Individuals can also earn community service hours. The Super Smash Bros Tournament kicks off at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 16th at the Contender eSports location in Wappingers Falls – 1557 Route 9. Pre-registered participants pay $20.
