Boys & Girls Club of New Rochelle Welcomes Huguenot Academy to its Remington Clubhouse, Returning Education to New Rochelle’s Lincoln Zone for the First Time Since the 1960s

Club Partnership with City School District of New Rochelle Creates Hub
 for Academic Success Including Access to Afterschool and Career Development Programs

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. (June 24, 2026) – The Boys & Girls Club of New Rochelle’s Remington Clubhouse will be the home of New Rochelle High School’s Huguenot Academy beginning July 1, 2026, returning a dedicated educational program to New Rochelle’s historic Lincoln neighborhood for the first time since the 1960s.

The Boys & Girls Club’s five-year agreement with the City School District of New Rochelle creates an educational hub for the high school’s alternative program, giving Huguenot Academy students same-building access to the Boys & Girls Club’s extensive career development and afterschool programs that have helped establish the Club as Westchester County’s premier youth-development organization.

“This move is an extraordinary opportunity for both Huguenot Academy students and the Boys & Girls Club of New Rochelle,” said Club CEO Becky Mazzanobile. “This partnership immerses students into the Remington Clubhouse’s dynamic environment, where academic learning, wellness, mentorship and career development come together under one roof. In addition, serving Huguenot Academy students strengthens our ability to serve young people holistically — supporting not just their education in the classroom, but nurturing their growth, confidence and success, all while returning education to the Lincoln Zone for the first time in more than 60 years.”

A 1961 United States Supreme Court ruling desegregated New Rochelle’s schools, giving students the ability to attend any city school with enrollment openings. The Lincoln Elementary School was torn down three years later, according to “Leveling Lincoln,” an Emmy Award-winning documentary.

Remington’s environment extends far beyond traditional classroom space. The 22,000-square-foot facility, which opened in 2024, was the first youth development facility built in New Rochelle in more than 40 years. It features modern educational and technology-enabled learning areas, a full gymnasium and basketball court, fitness and wellness facilities, a podcast and digital media studio, science, technology, engineering, arts and math (STEAM) learning spaces, gathering areas and dedicated spaces for mentoring, leadership development and academic support.

Huguenot Academy students also can benefit from:

• The Mariano Rivera Workforce Learning and Career Center, which provides career exploration, workforce-readiness training, mentorship, literacy education and pathways to college and employment opportunities.
• Afterschool programs that provide comprehensive academic, enrichment, wellness and leadership opportunities designed to support the whole child. Through programs such as Power Hour, STEAM, Money Matters, Healthy Habits, physical activity, team-building initiatives and social-emotional learning, members engage in experiences that strengthen academic success, personal growth, healthy lifestyles and positive peer connections.

Huguenot Academy, serving approximately 70 students, fosters academic achievement, personal growth, graduation success and college and career readiness through individualized instruction, strong student-adult relationships and tailored support services. It is moving to the Remington Clubhouse from 140 Huguenot St. in New Rochelle, on the campus of Monroe University.

“The move to Remington is what is best for our Huguenot Academy students, faculty, and staff while being cost-effective for the school district,” said Superintendent Dr. Corey W. Reynolds. “It’s a win-win that offers a state-of-the-art academic setting while preserving our small, student-centered learning environment. It creates seamless opportunities for our students to transition to Boys & Girls Club and New Rochelle High School programs right after their regular academic day. Most advantageous for our larger New Rochelle community, it also returns a vibrant educational presence to our historic Lincoln Avenue Corridor after many, many years.”

The Board of Education of the City School District of New Rochelle officially authorized the five-year lease at its June 17, 2026 meeting.
