BCW Members Organize Virtual Corporate Cup, Raise Funds for HOPE

BCW Members Organize Virtual Corporate Cup 5K Race to Raise Funds for HOPE

White Plains, New York (July 14, 2020) – Several BCW members have teamed up to organize this year’s 2020 Westchester Corporate Cup 5K Race announcing the race will be run virtually this summer to ensure the safety of participants.

Organizers say they are proceeding with a virtual competition to raise money for the event’s dedicated charity, HOPE Community Services, one of the largest food pantries and soup kitchens in Westchester County. HOPE is based in New Rochelle, New York and provides meals and other vital services to people in need in New Rochelle and surrounding communities.

“New York for much of this spring has been the epicenter of the global pandemic, and New Rochelle was particularly hard hit,” said Walt Ritz, HOPE’s executive director. “With unemployment reaching record levels, HOPE is now distributing more meals monthly than it did all of last year. We depend heavily on community support, and we’re extremely pleased we’ll have the support of the Westchester Corporate Cup 5K Race again this year.”

The Westchester Corporate Cup 5K Race has raised more than $40,000 for HOPE since the race’s inception in 2012.

Historically run around the campus of Purchase College in Purchase, New York, the race this year invites corporate teams or individuals to run or walk five kilometers and submit their times at any point during a nine-day stretch beginning Saturday, July 25 and ending Sunday, August 2. Awards will be given to the first, second, and third place gender-neutral corporate teams; the top three women and men individual runners under 40; and the top three women and men individual runners 40 and over.

“The race offers companies a great way to promote team-building and wellness while contributing to a great cause,” said Ed Dorian Jr. of Dorian Drake International, the race series’ organizers and one of its lead sponsors. “This year, with runners able to compete virtually, we’re hoping to extend our reach to a wider audience across the country and around the world.”

The series, which is a nonprofit event, is being underwritten by entry fees and contributions from eight sponsoring companies: Heritage Realty Services, LLC; Dorian Drake International, Inc.; PKF O’Connor Davies, LLP; Pearlgreen Corporation; Eifert, French & Ketchum; Elite Investigations LTD; Denlea & Carton LLC; and Liberty Elevator Corporation.
