BCW Urges Legislature to Support MTA Capital Plan
In keeping with the BCW’s legislative priorities, the Business Council of Westchester submitted testimony to New York State Legislative committees on November 8, calling for them to support the Metropolitan Transportation Authority’s 2020-2024 Capital Program.
“We are fortunate to have three Metro-North lines serving our county. The investment that is included in the MTA’s 2020-2024 Capitol Program includes many vital programs that will help provide and, in some cases, improve services for Westchester’s transportation infrastructure,” said BCW executive vice president and COO John Ravitz. “The BCW supports the MTA’s Capitol Program. Having the funding for this program will send a strong message to the business community that New York State is laser focused on funding programs that will recruit and retain businesses throughout New York State.”
The $51.5 billion Capital Plan, the largest-ever capital plan in Metropolitan Transportation Authority history, was unveiled in September. Nearly $5 billion will go to Metro-North, an investment that will help open Manhattan’s West Side to Westchester County commuters for the first time and fix aging track underneath Grand Central Terminal.
