BCW Members Support Honorable But Broken: EMS in Crisis

White Plains Hospital, Northwell Health’s Phelps Hospital and Northern Westchester Hospital, have graciously donated to the production of our documentary Honorable But Broken: EMS in Crisis, a film to inform and advocate for resources to support EMS workers—the third arm of 911 emergency first responders who have historically been underfunded, underpaid, and painfully ignored for necessary parity in health and wellness benefits. In addition to addressing the crisis with Dr. Emil Nigro at Phelps Memorial’s Hoch Center for EMS training, White Plains Hospital’s Emergency Department’s Dr. Eric Larsen, and Senator Shelly Mayer in Westchester, the documentary speaks to EMS leaders throughout the nation about the need to establish a funding structure for these essential EMS workers who have continued to take on more mobile health care responsibility. EMS workers are juggling multiple jobs to stay afloat to pay their bills, some are even living in shelters in NYC because they can’t afford to live in their 911 districts. Our film is co-produced by a mother of three EMS workers, former CBS News Producer Bryony Gilbey along with co-producer and BCW member Richard Diefenbach of RPD Media Associates, LLC.

Honorable But Broken: EMS in Crisis is a documentary being funded by tax deductible donations through our fiscal sponsor Partnerships for Change, a 501 C3.
