Whether it’s focusing on the history of Yorktown’s Front Street Industrial District or taking advantage of Peekskill’s beautiful vistas along the Hudson River, the BCW is working with communities in Westchester to help them position themselves to make the most their economic development opportunities.

In its efforts to promote economic development, The BCW recently hired Maggie Peters to work hand in hand with local officials to offer advice and assistance.

“In this newly created position, I am working to promote economic development on a number of fronts – from assisting our communities with new development projects to working alongside Westchester County to support small-to-mid-size businesses, as well as to attract new companies and strengthen our biotech and healthcare sectors,’’ said Peters. “I’m very encouraged by what I am hearing from local officials. We want to do all we can to help.’’

Peters was doing just that in recent weeks when she met with Yorktown’s new Town Supervisor Matt Slater. Slater has pledged to make economic development a top priority. He said he is interested in revitalizing areas across town including the Front Street Industrial Corridor, Yorktown Green, the Jefferson Valley Mall, as well as creating synergies with the county-owned Hilltop Hanover Farm.

Peters has had similar discussions with officials in Cortlandt, Peekskill and Mount Kisco. The BCW is expanding its efforts to reach other parts of the county after working closely these past few years with urban centers in New Rochelle, White Plains and Yonkers.
