Ronald McDonald House Takes Red Shoe Awards on the Road
Ronald McDonald House of the Greater Hudson Valley (RMHGHV) recently took their annual Red Shoe Awards on the road to recognize their honorees and thank them for their dedication to the children and families who call Ronald McDonald House their home. The House, just steps away from the Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital, provides families with children facing medical challenges an atmosphere of comfort, hope and courage, keeping them close to the care and resources they need.
According to Christina Riley, Executive Director RMHGHV, it’s been nearly two years since the 2020 Red Shoe honorees were announced but due to Covid restrictions the House wasn’t able to host an in person celebration to recognize each award recipient. Instead the RMHGHV team took Red Shoe on the road and personally presented awards to the honorees. Some of the honorees visited the House individually and accepted their Red Shoe Award. Each honoree was professionally filmed and over the week leading to the Thanksgiving holiday they will be highlighted daily through social media and email marketing. The honorees included: McDonald’s Owner Operator Matthew Potter, Nexxt Enterprises; Program Partner JP Morgan Chase; Non-Profit Partner Sparrows Nest Krista Jones, Founder and Executive Director; Heroes of the Year White Plains PBA; Community Partner The Arc Westchester; Family of the Year The Mosher Family; Volunteer of the Year Patricia Sullivan.
“We decided it was finally time to honor our award recipients and so we decided to take Red Shoe on the Road and recognize those individuals and organizations who go above and beyond for families who call our House home,” said Riley. “Although we were prevented from honoring our recipients as a group, we wanted to acknowledge each Red Shoe honoree individually. When you see us pop up in your news feeds, stories, and emails, we ask that you stop and take a moment to watch our honorees accept their awards and hear how they help us help families with a sick child.”
