WIHD’s Children’s Advocacy Center Awarded National Re-Accreditation

The Children’s Advocacy Center at the Westchester Institute for Human Development has been awarded re-accreditation by National Children’s Alliance following an extensive application and site review process.

Accredited CACs must undergo a re-accreditation process every five years to ensure that best practices are continually being applied. With accreditation standards being updated in 2010, re-accreditation this year reflects the CAC at WIHD’s commitment to providing evidence-based methods practice.

For almost fifteen years, the Children’s Advocacy Center at the Westchester Institute for Human Development has conducted forensic interviews and forensic medical examinations in a child-friendly environment as part of the multidisciplinary response to cases involving serious physical and/or sexual abuse of children.  Initially accredited in 2009, the Children’s Advocacy Center sees over 300 children from birth to age 18 each year.

As an Accredited Member of National Children’s Alliance, the Children’s Advocacy Center at the Westchester Institute for Human Development is dedicated to providing comprehensive, coordinated and compassionate services to victims of child abuse, according to Susan Fox, President and CEO of WIHD and a Board Member of the BCW and Co-Chair of the BCW’s Not-for-Profit Council.
