Westchester County’s leading business organization and the Westchester/Putnam Central Labor Body joined forces to throw their support behind small businesses that reopened this week as part of phase 2 economic reemergence.

Marsha Gordon, President and CEO of the Business Council of Westchester, and Thomas Carey, President of the Westchester/Putnam Central Labor Body, were at Sam’s of Gedney Way in White Plains on June 5 to announce their organizations’ support for area businesses.

“We are joining forces today to put our full support behind small businesses like New York Hospitality Group as they start to reopen with outdoor dining,’’ said Gordon. “Our local businesses are taking all precautions for a safe and healthy reopening, and I would urge everyone to patronize them so we can return to a vibrant and healthy economy.’’

Thomas Carey, President Westchester/Putnam Central Labor Body, said, “I am honored to stand with my good friend and president of the Business Council of Westchester Marsha Gordon to let all of our small businesses know that Labor stands with all of you. Governor Cuomo’s announcement allowing communities to start outdoor dining is a big step forward for our business partners as we move into Phase 2 of our re-opening. We are in this together!”

Peter Herrero, President of New York Hospitality Group and owner of Sam’s of Gedney Way, thanked Gordon and Carey.

“As a small business in the dining sector we certainly appreciate the support of our community during this time. And we are most appreciative and excited about beginning to see our friends and clients,’’ said Herrero. “I know I speak for all of us when I say that our first priority is the health and safety of staff and customers. We thank the representatives from labor and business for showcasing the economic importance of small business, especially the hospitality sector.”
