2026 Midterm Election Update from The BCW
Dear BCW Members,
This Tuesday’s election results were a clear national political realignment, as the Democratic Party captured the majorities in both the United States House of Representatives and the United States Senate.
We wanted to share with you the most updated results from this week’s Midterm Elections.
It is important to note that due to the serious voting machine programing error that occurred in Westchester County on Election Day, the votes cast at every polling site in the county, as of Thursday afternoon, are still being counted by the Westchester Board of Elections staff. This means that we still do not have the final votes calculated for every race that took place in Westchester.
Please also note that none of the races mentioned in this memo have been certified.
KEY STATEWIDE RACES
· Governor Kathy Hochul was re-elected for her second full term, receiving 61.4% of the vote. Her opponent Bruce Blakeman received 38.3%.
· Attorney General Letitia James won her re-election race, receiving 61.4% of the vote. Her opponent Saritha Komatireddy received 38.5%.
· State Comptroller Tom DiNapoli won his re-election, receiving 65.4% of the vote. His opponent John Hernandez received 34.5%.
WESTCHESTER CONGRESSIONAL RACES
· In the 17th Congressional District Cait Conley received 52.2% percent of the vote as she defeated Congressman Mike Lawler who received 47.7% of the vote.
· In the 16th Congressional District, Congressman George Latimer was re-elected for his second term, receiving 82% of the vote. His opponent, Joseph Cinquemani received 17.6% percent of the vote.
WESTCHESTER NEW YORK STATE SENATE RACES
All the members of the Westchester Senate Delegation were re-elected. They will once again have a supermajority.
WESTCHESTER NEW YORK STATE ASSEMBLY RACES
All members of the Westchester State Assembly delegation were re-elected. They will once again have a supermajority. Please note that in the 90th Assembly District, Assemblyman Nadar Sayegh did not run for re-election. The new Assemblyman for that district will be Frank Jereis.
This year the members of the Westchester County Board of Legislators were up for re-election. Since we do not have the final vote totals from the Westchester Board of Elections, we will follow up with the final results for each race in a separate memo.
If you have any questions regarding this week’s election results, please feel free to contact Executive Vice President and COO John Ravitz at jravitz@thebcw.org.
