Former BCW Rising Star Bikes for Charity, Shatters Record on Epic Ride from NYC to Boston

Mount Kisco resident Matt McAllister, Chief Operating Officer at Statewide Abstract Corp, recently embarked on an extraordinary cycling challenge.

On July 12, McAllister didn’t just aim to complete a grueling ride from New York City to Boston; he set out to break a record, all while raising money and awareness for the Business Council of Westchester’s Rising Stars Alumni Not-For-Profit Partnership.

The challenging 215-mile route, stretching from Central Park to Boston Commons, features a formidable 13,000 feet of elevation gain. McAllister, 38, conquered the distance in an astonishing 15 hours and 2 minutes, smashing the previous record by nearly four hours!

What makes McAllister’s achievement even more remarkable is that he completed it “solo-self supported.” This means he rode completely alone, without a support crew, stopping only at gas stations and convenience stores along the way.

A 2022 Rising Star himself, McAllister leveraged this incredible feat to support the Rising Stars Alumni Not-For-Profit Partnership. His efforts raised more than $8,000, which will be equally divided among four vital not-for-profits: MorDance, Feeding Westchester, the Alzheimer’s Association, and the YWCA of White Plains & Central Westchester.

The Business Council of Westchester, the county’s leading business membership organization, understands the deep connection between a thriving business community and a healthy, resilient society. They regularly partner with local nonprofits, educational institutions, and civic organizations to back programs that address critical issues like food insecurity, youth mentorship, and workforce development.

When asked about his motivation, McAllister reflected on his involvement with the Rising Stars program. “All problems are mine to solve along the way,” he said. “You might find yourself asking…but why? As a 2022 Rising Star, I’ve been exposed to the tremendous amount of community support they provide, particularly through the Rising Star Alumni Not-For-Profit Partnership.”

He added, “I wanted to raise awareness and funds for their causes. Originally, I was looking for something easier than a summer racing schedule, but once the fundraising component clicked, the idea took on a life of its own. I’ll take any excuse I can get to ride my bike all day!”

McAllister’s inspiring journey demonstrates not only his athletic prowess but also his dedication to giving back to the community. His record-breaking ride from NYC to Boston is a testament to what a rising star can achieve when passion meets purpose.
