Singer-songwriter Regina Spektor to headline ArtsWestchester’s Benefit Concert: Fri., Nov. 21

The singer-songwriter and pianist Regina Spektor will headline ArtsWestchester’s annual Benefit Concert on November 21 at The Performing Arts Center, Purchase College.
Entitled Raise Your Voice for the Arts, the event celebrates ArtsWestchester’s 60th anniversary while calling on the public to protect the future of the arts, which are under threat from federal funding cuts and political attacks.

“So far this year, arts and cultural organizations across Westchester have experienced devasting and disruptive cuts in federal funding. ArtsWestchester’s leadership in championing artistic freedom and support of our local cultural treasures has never been more vital,” said ArtsWestchester CEO Kathleen Reckling. “We are thrilled to welcome Regina Spektor back to The Purchase PAC for this special benefit concert, where funds raised will help secure the future of the arts in our region.”

Spektor, a Purchase College graduate, began her musical career in New York City’s East Village music scene. The Grammy Award nominee first saw commercial success with the album Begin to Hope, which includes the singles “On the Radio,” “Better,” “Samson,” and “Fidelity,” which climbed the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart. Spektor, 45, has a history of philanthropy and activism. She contributed songs to the albums Instant Karma: The Amnesty International Campaign to Save Darfur and Songs for Tibet. Her benefit concert appearances include events for Planned Parenthood, Medecins Sans Frontieres and HIAS.

Funds raised at The Raise Your Voice for the Arts Benefit Concert will support the work of ArtsWestchester to ensure an equitable, vibrant and sustainable Westchester County in which the arts are integral to and integrated into every facet of life.
