BCW Tours Newly Open Amazon Distribution Facility

BCW President & CEO Marsha Gordon and BCW Executive VP and COO John Ravitz recently had the opportunity to visit the newly opened Amazon Distribution Center in Hawthorne. Joining them on the tour were government leaders including County Legislature Chair Vedat Gashi and Mount Pleasant Supervisor Carl Fulgenzi.

The center will provide “last mile” distribution, with over 50,000 packages a day delivered and twice that in holiday season and Prime Days, up to 59 vans each day and 7 delivery partners. Over 150 people are employed, with full benefits and educational opportunities to provide great career ladders. During the holidays and Prime days employment can reach 500.

The 150,000-square-foot facility was constructed on a 10-acre site formerly the Green Valley Nursery on Route 9A.  Amazon received financial incentives for the project from the Mount Pleasant Industrial Development Agency (IDA).

Gordon thanked Amazon for their commitment to the community and choosing Westchester as a site for the new warehouse. Ravitz applauded their job creation and commitment to employees.
