WIN’s Lessonbee Accepted Into Verizon Accelerator

Lessonbee Founder and CEO Reva McPollom speaking at Verizon’s Forward for Good Accelerator in Orlando

Westchester Innovation Network (WIN) participant Lessonbee has been accepted into Verizon’s Forward for Good Accelerator in Orlando, Florida.

Lessonbee was one of seven companies selected for the accelerator’s health equity program out of hundreds of applicants. The accelerator supports startups working to close the gaps in health access and outcomes by searching for solutions leveraging next-generation technology to break down barriers to quality care.

Lessonbee is an online education platform that provides culturally relevant health, social and emotional learning courses for millions of students.

“Tapping into the technological capabilities and expertise of Verizon, including 5G and AI, will help us unlock capabilities to grow our impact,” said Lessonbee founder and CEO Reva McPollom. “Lessonbee is committed to providing equitable access to comprehensive health education and eliminating health illiteracy in this generation.”

The collaboration with Verizon is Lessonbee’s latest accomplishment since becoming a WIN participant.

The company recently worked with the Yonkers Housing Authority (YHA) to provide Gen Z residents with wellness education. As part of the WIN partnership, Lessonbee piloted its subscription-based content at one of YHA’s largest housing developments, a complex serving more than 1,700 families.

Last year, Lessonbee won a $100,000 award from the Google for Startups Initiative’s Black Founders Fund, which provides cash awards to Black led startups that have participated in Google’s programs or have been nominated by Google’s partner community or a previous recipient.

“Lessonbee is an example of how the Business Council of Westchester’s WIN program attracts innovative startups to our county to work with local matches eager to test new ideas and learn from innovators,” said Dr. Marsha Gordon, the BCW’s president and CEO. “We look forward to matching more innovators that want to put their services in front of audiences with local partners that can provide valuable feedback.”
