DataKey Leads Design Thinking Program at Manhattanville College
DataKey Consulting, headed by Business Council of Westchester Board Member Ted Miller, held its 9th Annual CEO Summit at the Center for Design Thinking at Manhattanville College on Thursday, November 14. The event, “Moving the Needle with Design Thinking,” drew leaders of small to mid-size businesses in the area.
Manhattanville President Michael Geisler welcomed the group and invited the business community to use the center as a resource.
Several workshops were run by Manhattanville faculty and staff members. One workshop, run by Manhattanville’s Director of Career Services Meghan Makarczuk, introduced participants to a system called “True Colors” that helps supervisors work best with an array of workplace personalities. Manhattanville Professor, Courtney Kelly, and Writing Center Director, Carleigh Browner, ran a session on developing empathy which is a cornerstone of the design thinking approach. Alison Carson, Associate Provost for Academic Innovation and Design Thinking and a Professor of Psychology at Manhattanville College, facilitated a workshop on developing clarity, another component of design thinking. Manhattanville CIO Jim Russell spoke about the power of prototypes for perfecting design concepts.
