Today Governor Cuomo announced the New York Forward Loan Fund (NYFLF), a new economic recovery loan program aimed at supporting New York State small businesses, nonprofits and small landlords as they reopen after the COVID-19 outbreak and NYS on PAUSE. NYFLF targets the state’s small businesses with 20 or fewer full-time equivalent (FTE) employees (90% of all businesses), nonprofits and small landlords that have seen a loss of rental income. Since very early on in our new ‘Covid-19 World’ Walters has re-invented themselves, not only by finding creative ways of providing regular (and new!) customers with a ‘taste’ of ‘normalcy’, but by also giving back to the community. On March 18, Walter’s teamed up with Bona Bona Ice Cream to provide free hot dogs and ice cream to children in the Westchester Community Opportunity program in New Rochelle, serving about 200 people, including families and children who relied on their schools for food, the National Guard, and medical workers. Beyond Flowers and Food donated their “Send to Thank a Frontline Hero” gift packages to some of the ICU nurses at St. John’s Riverside in the hard-hit community of Yonkers. The Dobbs Ferry custom-made gift company run by sisters Beth Turner and Katie Cadman wanted to express its gratitude during National Nurses Week on May 6-12. The packages contained Wonder Woman or Superman socks (female/male versions) for a dose of extra courage on those hard days, as well as a box of 30 pop-open inspiration cards, a motivating message a day to keep them going for the next month.
