Yes She Can Inc. is launching a mentorship program funded by New York State Council on Developmental Disabilities and it is currently seeking mentors to work with individuals on the autism spectrum in Westchester County. The heart of this program is communication, with a focus on the workplace. During the course of a year, volunteer Job Coaches will cover topics that will help a mentee become better communicators and leaders. Topics include establishing rapport, listening skills, setting boundaries, self-advocacy, projecting confidence, articulating strengths, discovering values, flexibility, creativity, staying positive, and accepting and providing feedback with grace. The 27th annual charity cup hockey game, “Battle of the Badges,” will take place on Saturday, March 2nd at Ebersole Ice Rink in White Plains with the White Plains Firefighters facing off against the White Plains PBA at 6 p.m. The event will include a Silent Auction with autographed sports memorabilia as well as a Spin to Win Wheel hosted by B&G Entertainment -Autographs from the Jefferson Valley Mall. ArtsWestchester announced today that the application portal for the 2024 Arts Alive grant program is open for funding requests from nonprofit groups and individual artists in Westchester and Rockland counties for arts projects. This grant program is made possible through a New York State Senate Arts Initiative. Applications to ArtsWestchester to support cultural activities are being accepted now through March 14, 2024.
