The Tea Experience is a Recipient of Beyoncé’s BeyGOOD and NAACP

BeyGOOD (Beyonce’s non-profit organization) is on a mission to spread hope. The goal is to provide a lifeline for small businesses at the epicenter of dual pandemics. NAACP teamed up with BeyGOOD to expand economic opportunity and awarded $10,000 grants through December 2020. Leslie was part of the Round 4 Grant Recipients in December 2020.

“I feel blessed and highly favored to receive this grant. I submitted my application in November and did not expect to be selected!” said Leslie Allicks, owner of The Tea Experience NY. Leslie initially dreamed of opening a coffee house, but after sharing conversations about her family history while caring for her ailing father, she learned that not only did she come from a family of tea drinkers, but her great grandmother worked at the Haviland china company in NYC – a direct link to the tea industry! With the support and guidance from family, friends and the local business community, Leslie launched her business and has never looked back!

“Although my business is primarily e-commerce, I’ve had to change all in-person tea parties and educational classes to virtual events and webinars due to the pandemic. I want to expand my business to corporate team building events and private tea parties.”, says Leslie.
