Local design firm Hudson Valley Graphic Design based in Croton on Hudson has recently been named a 2019 New York State Minority Woman Owned Business (MWBE), a certification which enables small businesses owned by minorities and woman to have equal opportunities. Through the MWBE certification program woman entrepreneurs have unlimited access to government contracts which can help them grow their business. NY Governor Cuomo launched the MWBE Certification Campaign to encourage minority and women business owners to certify with the State and take advantage of current and upcoming state procurement opportunities and billions of dollars in state procurement opportunities.
According to Janeen Violante, Principal of Hudson Valley Graphic Design and Adjunct Professor of Graphic Design at Westchester Community College, the certification program expands opportunities for woman entrepreneurs like herself to access government contracts and grow their business while receiving benefits such as access to networking events, customized courses, and targeting consultations. “Being certified as a MWBE is just another step in our firm’s expansion and the team at HVGD plans to take full advantage of the benefits being offered to us through this program. This certification creates an environment of support and opportunities that will help us expand our services and ultimately benefit our clients,” said Violante. Hudson Valley Graphic Design has been offering smart design solutions and brand consultation to local businesses for over three decades. With a team of talented designers, marketing experts and production technicians they specialize in logos, websites, brochures, product packaging and social media implementation.
The program mission is to promote equality of economic opportunities for MWBEs and to eliminate barriers to their participation in state contracts while supplementing economic leadership with information and resources that increase access to information and opportunities for minority- and women-owned businesses throughout the state. The key objectives for the program are to encourage and assist state agencies to award a fair share of contracts to MWBEs, review applications by businesses seeking certification and maintain a directory of certified MWBEs, and promote the business development of MWBEs through education and outreach to NYS agencies as well as MWBEs. Under the Governor’s leadership, the State has certified more than 4,300 MWBEs and recertified more than 3,600 MWBEs. Keeping with his commitment to MWBEs and the small business community, Governor Cuomo has pledged to certify another 2,000 firms over the next two years. “We are proud to be officially certified by the State of New York through this program and look forward to seeing our firm continue to thrive and develop as a MWBE,” added Violante.
